|1||If you soak them, they will absorb water and lose all their flavour, especially if you have already removed the green top (the "hat"), like on this photo.|
|2||With strawberries, it's absolutely essential to minimise contact with water, so do not wash, but brush them gently with a small brush, then remove the green part.
If they are really dirty, rinse quickly under cold water and drain immediately. Then remove the green part, but only afterwards.
