Step by step recipe
- 1: In the bowl of a mixer, sift together 240 g flour, 10 g baking powder and 2 pinches salt.
Add 120 g butter soft and cut into small pieces, 150 g brown sugar, ½ teaspoon vanilla extract, 150 g rolled oats and 100 g chocolate chips. - 2: Start the mixer on low speed and mix for 2 or 3 minutes...
- 3: ...then add 2 eggs and run the mixer until the dough is smooth.
- 4: Preheat oven to 180°C (360°F).
Cut and weigh the dough into 30-35 g pieces. - 5: Roll the dough into regular balls and place on a sheet of baking paper on a baking sheet.
Note: If you have children around, let them help you, they'll love the "play dough" aspect. - 6: Press each ball to flatten it slightly.
- 7: Bake at 180°C (360°F) for about 15 minutes.
- 8: Cool well, preferably on a wire rack, before serving.
Remarks
For the chocolate chips, you can mix half dark chocolate and half milk chocolate.
As always with cookies, it's best if they're slightly undercooked, so keep a close eye on the end.
It's very easy to vary the toppings on the cookies, e.g. replace the chocolate with raisins, replace 1/4 of the oats with chopped nuts, etc.
