Step by step recipe

1Peel and chop 1 onion.Italian style gratin : etape 25
2Pour 4 tablespoons olive oil into a large saucepan on medium heat.

When hot, add the onions and cook for 2 minutes without colouring. Salt and pepper.

3Add the minced beef and cook, stirring from time to time.

Set aside.

4Prepare 300 g courgette and slice into thin rounds.Italian style gratin : etape 25
5Pour 2 tablespoons olive oil into a large saucepan on medium heat.

When hot, add the courgettes and cook for 5 minutes, then salt and pepper.

6Prepare 2 tomatoes (while it is not essential to peel them, it is better), slice and fry in 2 tablespoons olive oil, then salt and pepper on both sides.Italian style gratin : etape 25
7Preheat the oven to 390°F (200°C).

Begin assembling the gratin: use a buttered gratin dish and spread the sautéed courgettes in the bottom.

Remarks

For the cheese topping, I prefer Comté, but use whatever you like. Of course, Parmesan would be more Italian.
