Glossary (talk like a chef): Soaking a cake
Soaking a cake
Soaking (or drizzling) is adding liquid to a cake after cooking, usually a syrup or alcohol, to make it less dry.
Example: "
Soak half the genoa sponge with griottines syrup"
Meaning: Dip a
brush in the syrup and brush onto the cake, over the whole surface.
Remarks: Note: The brush is not absolutely necessary, you can also pour (or drizzle) the syrup with a spoon for example, directly onto the cake.
