Step by step recipe

Stage 1
The avocado stone stops the flesh turning brown : Stage 1
A puree is made with an avocado cut into pieces and blended.

Stage 2
The avocado stone stops the flesh turning brown : Stage 2
The purée is divided between 3 ramekins: on the right plain, in the centre with the stone, and on the left with a pinch of vitamin C.

Stage 3
The avocado stone stops the flesh turning brown : Stage 3
A few hours later...

Stage 4
The avocado stone stops the flesh turning brown : Stage 4
Unfortunately the stone has had no effect.

Stage 5
The avocado stone stops the flesh turning brown : Stage 5
The vitamin C, on the other hand, has acted as an effective anti-oxidant.

Conclusion

False: So there is no point leaving the avocado stone in the prepared dish. Vitamin C, and so the lemon juice added to guacamole is much more effective.

This tart is a classic of French pâtisserie. It's quite simple: a sweetcrust pastry case filled with almond cream and pears poached in syrup. Invented in the middle of the 19th century, it gets its name not from its creator but from Rue Bourdaloue, the street where he had his pâtisserie.

You should not put an aluminum container directly in the oven
If you put an aluminum container, containing food to be cooked or reheated, in your oven directly on the shelf, the shiny base will reflect a large part of the oven heat (like a mirror). This means that the food will take much longer to cook or heat through than usual.

  • Thanks for doing this, been wondering if it's at all true. Now I understand it's the lemon juice I've been using, not the stone, that has kept my guacamole fresh :)
