Grated potato cakes

Grated potato cakes
These grated potato cakes (similar to hash browns, but without the onion) can be deep or pan fried. They are excellent with meat, but quite delicious on their own. Children love them.

Shape the potato cakes to the size you prefer, but do not pack them too tightly.

It is best to use a dessert ring about 8 cm (3 inches) in diameter to keep the cake neat and round.

I advise you to make all the cakes on a baking sheet and to freeze uncooked any you will not be using immediately.

Stage 9 - 5 min.

Fry the potato cakes...

Stage 10
Grated potato cakes
...until golden brown all over.

Stage 11
Grated potato cakes
They can also be pan fried: place the dessert ring in the oiled pan and shape the potato cakes...

Stage 12
Grated potato cakes
...directly in the pan.

Stage 13
Grated potato cakes
Fry until browned on both sides.
Remarks
It is really important to rinse the potatoes thoroughly after grating to remove the starch which would otherwise make the cakes stick during cooking.
Keeping: Should be eaten straight after cooking.
Source: Home made.
