Step by step recipe

Gingerbread : Photo of step #1 Preheat oven to 180°C or 356°F.

Melt 13 cup butter in a small pan on low heat, then set aside.

Gingerbread : Photo of step #2 In another pan, put 23 cup honey.

Gingerbread : Photo of step #3 Heat ½ cup water and pour into pan with honey. Add 13 cup brown sugar, mix well to dissolve, and add 1 tablespoon rum and a pinch of salt.

Gingerbread : Photo of step #4 Pour this mixture into a food processor bowl, then add 1 cup flour, 1 cup rye flour and 1 tablespoon baking powder.

Don't turn out immediately, but allow cool slightly first.

Remarks

Afficionados of ginger bread (like Robert) say that it's better not too fresh (the next day maybe), sliced and buttered.
