Step by step recipe


Stage 1 - 3 min.
Grilled ham and bechamel sandwiches
Cut 200 g ham in small dices.

I use here a heel of ham, but no problem to use slices, cut them if possible in strips in this case.

Stage 2 - 3 min.
Grilled ham and bechamel sandwiches
Prepare 1 shallot and slice it.

Stage 3 - 1 min.

In a small skillet over medium heat, pour in 2 tablespoons olive oil and when hot add the shallot.

Season with salt and pepper and cook for 1 minute, stirring.

Add the ham...

...and cook, stirring occasionally, until golden brown.

Stage 6 - 1 min.

Remove from heat and add chopped parsley.

Preheat oven to 200°C (390°F).

Place 4 slices bread in a baking sheet protected by a sheet of baking paper.

You can toast the slices (like the ones on the left in the photo) if you like the crunchiness, but it's not necessary.

Spread each slice of bread with a generous layer of béchamel.

Stage 9 - 3 min.

Spread the grilled ham.

Stage 10 - 3 min.

Sprinkle with grated cheese.

Stage 11 - 20 min.
Grilled ham and bechamel sandwiches
Put in the oven for about 20 minutes, watch the coloring and don't hesitate to finish with a small blow of grill.

Serve hot or warm.
Remarks
You can replace the ham with lardons, or even leftover cold cuts.
